The Keys to an Effective Web Design For Your Business

Believe it or not, your web design can have a large impact on the amount of income you earn. Everything from the placement of ads to the font of your text can affect how the visitors to your site react. Ultimately, the design of your website will depend on the type of business you are running.

To begin with, you want to consider what type of business you have and what type of visitors you intend on having. Obviously you will have visitors coming from all over, but consider who your target market is. You do not want a wild and spontaneous site if your theme is law.

Everything begins with the header on your home page. You want the header to stand out strong and be the primary focus of your site. It is the first thing people see when they arrive at your site, so make it worthwhile. The header should be large and bolded with a color that suits your site's background color. If appropriate, it can be nice to include an image or graphic of some sort around the header.

As for graphics, try to keep them minimal. Again, it depends on your site's theme, but too many graphics and banners can easily clutter a page. You want to find a balance between too many and too little. If you have little to no graphics whatsoever, you will end up with a dull page.

The color of your site and text is an important web design facet to consider as well. If you have an entertainment site, you can get away with bright colors to capture the atention of your visitors. But having a bright yellow site is probably not the best choice for a business site.

When you organize your site, think spacious and balanced. You do not want to have all of your content on the upper half and all of your graphics on the bottom half of the page. Your graphics and content should interchange with each other nicely. And spread everything out, do not try to bunch everything up together.

Lastly, do not try to do too much with your web design if you are not a professional. Paying for a professionally built site is not a bad idea because the design can have a large impact on whether or not a prospect turns into a customer. But if you do not want to pay, keep it simple and professional.
